About the Artist
Barb's eye for detail is almost effortlessly transferred to canvas and paper. Her graphite drawings and vibrant paintings shine with the natural light and beauty of the world, as seen through her eyes. Barb's work is an expression of her spirituality, and passion and respect for nature. Barb started drawing as a child, and explored painting in high school. Her interest in different mediums has prompted self-curated learning.
Barb creates art from her personal values, one of which is connection. Her personal joy is finding a connection with what you love and creating a one of a kind piece of art to your custom specifications.
Barb is a resident of Selkirk, Manitoba. She is one of few artists doing live caricatures at outdoor markets. Barb has participated in RRNT's Garden and Art Tour, community art fairs in Selkirk and St. Andrews, the Beauhead Arts Fest and art shows through Interlake Artist Collective. She is a member of the Selkirk Community Arts Centre and displays and sells some of her artwork through Gwen Fox Gallery. Some of the work available here can be viewed in person at Gordon Howard Senior Centre and Selkirk’s Care Plus Clinic. Barb has work in private collections across Canada.
Barb is teaching acrylic painting in association with the Alzheimer Society, drawing and painting in (continuing) spring and fall sessions at Gordon Howard Senior Centre and facilitating kids’ summer book creation workshops. Upcoming fall watercolor and drawing classes will be taught at Gwen Fox Gallery.
